Welcome to Andhra Association of Queensland

TOGETHER FOR A BETTER FUTURE.

About

Andhra Association of Queensland (AAQ) is a non-profit organization formed in 2024 by Andhra people migrated and living in Queensland, Australia to promote Andhra Pradesh’s core culture and heritage. Incorporated as a charitable organization, it aims to preserve Andhra traditions and maintain a strong sense of loyalty toward the community.

Many of us have been involved with “Telugu Associations” in various capacities. This brings up the question: why form another association? The current associations are effective at bringing people together annually for cultural events. However, AAQ aims to address an additional need by fostering community connections throughout the year.

Reflecting on childhood memories of festivals such as Bhogi, Sankranti, Kanuma, Ugadi, Sri Rama Navami, Vinayaka Chavithi, Dussehra and Diwali events were celebrated collectively in villages, creating a sense of unity. AAQ seeks to recreate this communal spirit and provide opportunities to celebrate our culture more frequently.

AAQ is designed to be more than an association; it is envisioned as an extended family coming together to honor and pass down our cultural heritage to future generations. While we live in Queensland for various reasons, we remain connected to our cultural roots and values. It is important to recognize and take pride in our traditions and where we come from.

By respecting, celebrating, and cherishing our culture, we ensure its preservation. If we do not take these steps, there is a risk that these traditions may be lost.
